These cigars are among the top selling filtered cigars in the USA. They are well constructed with a great taste and aroma as well as a mild-medium body.
Review applies to Full Flavor & Sweet and probably their other flavors.
The GOOD: My favorite tobacco for RYO with tubes & injector. So, when I discovered their filtered cigars for only $7.85 at TobaccoGENERAL.com, I bought 8 cartons. They are a great tasting smoke but the filter is horrible!
The BAD: Because they come in flip top boxes they are 97mm long. That's normal/not a problem. The problem is the Filter. It is 30mm long; close to 1/3 of the cigar. When I first light up the filter seems to be like any other filter: nice and firm, cool to the touch and comfortable to hold between my fingers. After smoking a little over 1/2 of the cigar, the filter starts to become SOFT, MUSHY and begins to SHRINK Inward upon itself. When I get down to the last 1\2 to 1\4 inch of the remaining tobacco, the tip of the filter is very hot, shrunk to about 3 - 4mm in diameter and separated from the paper.
So, now I use a cigarette holder to smoke them. I lick the end of the filter paper before I insert it into the holder. That helps prevent the filter from falling out of the holder as the filter shrinks in size. I Will Not be buying any more of these GH filtered cigars until I read that they have a New & Improved Filter.
I hope the folks at Golden Harvest read this review and switch to a quality filter and shorten it's length to around 20mm. I would be willing to pay a little more if it had a better/shorter filter.
Many years ago, when I first started making my own smokes, I bought a Really BIG bag of Really CHEAP Filters direct from Hong Kong. They did the exact same thing as these filters do.
